You will find me completely nonjudgmental and unconditionally accepting.  My acceptance of you and your ‘internal frames of reference’, your world view is unconditional.

If you are experiencing discomfort, we will act together to resolve it.  The ‘problem’ may remain, but the effect it has on you can be changed, freeing you from it.  Learning to COUNSEL YOURSELF through any situation is very achievable.  Much of our suffering is related to self-defeating beliefs that lead to unwanted emotions and behaviors.  You will be helped to develop POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS with YOURSELF and others.  YOUR MOST IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIP IS WITH YOU.

You CAN become your best friend.  Then time spent alone is not at all alone time.  It is very much together time.

Our therapeutic relationship is fostered in an environment where you can achieve mental and emotional well-being and balance, EQUANIMITY, in other words.  You will be guided to HEALING & GROWTH, and to SOLUTIONS.  You will be EMPOWERED to focus on, and to expand your character strengths and virtues.

I have been practicing psychotherapy and counseling for 18 years.  Psychotherapy takes a deeper look into what experiences in developmental years and relational histories that may be contributing factors in symptoms you may be having, and effort to resolve such complexes.  I study models of mental health and well-being, believing we need to know what they look like to approach and achieve them.

Psychotherapy and counseling are my passion, therefore study them unceasingly.  I am informed both by Eastern philosophies and Western psychologies.  Spheres of influence include , Positive Psychology, Brain Science, Mindfulness, Meditations,  Anger Management (which I call Anger Transformation), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT),Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT),  IMAGO Relationship Therapy, Healthy Communication Styles (with self and others), Christian/Biblical Counseling, Buddhist Psychology, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Clinical Hypnosis and Guided Imagery,  the Science of Happiness, and the Character Strengths and Virtues of humanity, including your own…the one’s you have and may wish to strengthen, and others you might wish to cultivate.

Our brain is not always our best friend, for its focus is the evolutionary desire for survival, having a hard-wired ‘negativity bias’.  Our brain hijacks us and takes us where it wants to go, causing cognitive distortions and emotional disturbances.

Perhaps the greatest gift you can receive from me is that through mindfulness, self-awareness, teachings, and practices, we can train our minds to go where we want to go (mentally, emotionally, and relationally), rather than allowing our brains to hijack us and take us where it wants to go (cognitive distortions with difficult/destructive emotions)

Also, intruders parade into our brains posing as our thoughts, but they are not necessarily our thoughts. They may be others’ voices, conditioning from caregivers, authority figures, society, even television, etc.  We unwittingly allow them to shape our very existence, including our world and self views.

No longer, I say!

We can develop and master our own sense of authenticity, agency, and congruency.  We can be comfortable in our own skin, know ourselves, and know how to engage successfully in all of the dynamics in life we face.  We can be the calm eye in the center of the chaos that surrounds us.

While looking deeply, honesty and with transparency are essential.  I promise to always be and do that with you.  SELF-AWARENESS is key, and MINDFULNESS is a direct route there.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for the consideration to join me in a therapeutic relationship.
