My name is Laura Helbling and I am a mental health therapist who believes in healing pain through genuine connection, honesty, and trust. Therapy with me is a partnership, and my goal is to partner with you in bravely exploring your inner world and to help you make real sustainable changes in your life that bring you closer to who you want to be. Through this relationship, I hope to help you build deeper compassion for yourself, a deeper understanding of the world around you, and use your strengths to help you reach your goals.
I received my BA in psychology from the University of Maryland in College Park, and an MSW from the University of Maryland in Baltimore. I am a clinically licensed social worker in the state of Maryland (LCSW-C) and in the state of Colorado (LCSW) and I am a certified level-1 trauma therapist through The Ferentz Institute. I specialize in working with older teens and adults with trauma who struggle to feel seen and understood as well as people in recovery from addiction who want to further support their healing. I’m a trauma-trained, queer-identifying, and holistic therapist who values mindfulness, authenticity, and dialectics in my practice.
I believe in tailoring my care to fit the unique needs of my clients. Therefore, in my therapeutic work, I use a variety of evidence-based and trauma-informed interventions to meet those needs. These interventions include IFS (internal family systems), Mindfulness, DBT (Dialectical behavioral therapy), and somatic therapy.
Areas of treatment for both teens and adults include but are not limited to: Depression, substance use/dependence, self-harm, PTSD, generalized anxiety, men’s issues, life transitions, grief, relationship issues, and self-esteem.
