Aspiring to be a lifelong helper in my community, my passion for client empowerment has been an integral part of my professional and personal life. As a past high school art teacher, I took the role of “counselor in the classroom” seriously and being an available adult for my students meant that I could provide them a space where they felt validated and listened to. When my journey in the education system ended, I wanted to apply my skills and core values to the field of counseling and dedicate my time to building genuine, empathetic relationships that foster holistic growth in adults, adolescents, and children.
As I embark on my own personal and professional journey as a new LPCC, I believe that my clients will be able to benefit from my ability to incorporate creativity in the counseling space. Using my past experiences as an art instructor, a sexual assault victim’s advocate and a crisis hotline volunteer, I want to help my clients cope with a variety of life’s daily stressors and process more complex trauma. By applying a person-centered and psychodynamic approach, I strive to help clients uncover links from the past and support the insight the therapeutic process provides.
