Thank you for choosing Family Ties That Bind for your behavioral health needs. Scheduling your first appointment is often a difficult decision. Congratulations for taking this important step. I look forward to collaborating with you. Family Ties that Bind offers a wide range of therapeutic approaches and psychotherapy services to couples, families, individuals, and adolescents/teenagers. Services can be held in-person or via telehealth.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor/Therapist, as well as a Marriage Child and Family Therapist. I work collaboratively with clients to design and implement a treatment plan that will best meet their needs and personal goals. I view a family as a unit and believe that each family has their own unique style of communicating and problem-solving tools. As a systems clinician, I utilize a family systems approach with an emphasis on Solution-Focus, Strategic, Cognitive Behavioral, and Structural models. I have 20 years of experience in mental health agencies and private practice in both Texas and Washington. My experience includes working with children, at-risk youth, couples and/or families, vulnerable and aging adults, domestic violence, grief and loss, trauma, and special populations from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Family Ties that Bind offers collaborative counseling to support the client as the client works toward his/her goal(s). In entering counseling with me, the client commits to this process in the counseling session(s), and between counseling sessions. The client understands there are risks and benefits when participating in this therapeutic process, and due to many variables, there is no guarantee as to results. In working through unpleasant emotions that may arise for a period, however, the therapeutic process has proven beneficial overall for individuals and families. Counseling may help reduce feelings of distress, improve relationships, and help the client resolve specific life issues/problems.
