I believe in the inner healing capacity of every human being through self knowledge, acceptance, compassion, forgiveness, and love. As a psychology student, I loved the study of dreams and the unconscious. I learned how we all have different parts of ourselves that interact with each other both consciously and unconsciously. Families also form a system that moves and changes as its members deeply affect each other through their actions and emotions. As I came to understand myself and my own family more deeply, I developed a passion for helping others explore their own consciousness and family systems to unlock unhelpful patterns that were keeping them stuck.
The power for healing is in the present moment! I am a fierce advocate for my clients to assert their right to be respected. I want to learn about your history, which events in your life led you to this moment, who were the most important people in your life, what do you value and how did you come to hold those values, and where are you stuck in taking action toward your goals now. With 37 years of experience, I use a combination of family systems theory, narrative therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Body Centered Gestalt, Emotion Focused Therapy, EMDR, and KAP. I work with clients who have depression, anxiety, PTSD, attachment disorders, relationship problems, gender and sexuality issues, eating disorders, addictions, and self-actualization issues. I have lived in Mexico and speak fluent Spanish.
I have always had an interest in the potential for psychedelic medicines for personal/spiritual growth and in the treatment of trauma. In the last decade there has been more research and progress in this area from such respected institutions as Yale, Johns Hopkins, and MAPS that have elevated this potential to a reality. I completed my training with MAPS in MDMA assisted psychotherapy and will be able to treat clients as soon as it is fully approved by the FDA in 2023. Currently I do preparation and integration sessions for self-administered psychedelic medicines as well as both in-person and telehealth Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP).
I prioritize my self-care by practicing yoga regularly, staying active, eating well, getting enough sleep, socializing, and spending time in the hammock with my dog.
My goal is to support my clients on their journey to be true to their most authentic selves. I strive to create a safe space for you to express yourself. I’m also going to hold you accountable to do your work to get unstuck and move forward in the direction of your values.
