Kara (she/her), MA, LPCC is a graduate of Regis University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Kara is passionate about helping women/birthing people struggling with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, complex grief and loss, birth trauma, and family systems activation that often presents in the birth of a child. She brings many years of experience in the clinical mental health field including experience as a play therapist, and an additional 10 years in the field of education. Kara especially loves working with caregivers to invite change and healing for parts of themselves that may be especially activated in the birthing and parenting journey, more fully embodying sturdy leadership in their families. From her own experience, Kara is aware of the old wounds and dynamics that can be activated throughout the parenting journey, and seeks to lend a compassionate ear to others who have struggled in a similar way. Kara is trained in fostering integration through Internal Family Systems, Somatic/Contemplative work, DBT, Solution-Focused, Acceptance and Commitment, and Narrative therapy. She believes all women are immensely powerful, and by inviting compassionate awareness and contacting the riches of the present moment, new stories can be recognized and that power can emerge. In her spare time, Kara loves being outside, cooking, practicing yoga, running, and being with her partner and daughter.
