This might sound cheesy, especially given we have yet to meet. But whoever you are, I fiercely believe that your story– the unique hero’s journey you’re clearly on given the website you’ve ended up in– is important and beautiful and rich; and your suffering shall be worth it in the end, for it has the potential to bring your life depth, meaning, and fulfillment. But damn does living hurt sometimes, and too many of us feel all too alone in the process of our personal becoming. We need therapeutic spaces to nourish our need to belong.
My own personal journey has sent me deep into the dark caves of suffering, and with the support of many guides who have not only accompanied me into the most shadowy channels of my own despair but have also provided me the tools and resources to do so, I have learned to navigate– to spelunk– the depths. It is my honor and joy to share the tools, resources, and navigation skills I’ve discovered in my own journey and to accompany others into their depths, help them discover their own personal treasures and find their way back to the the light with renewed purpose and meaning– to a state of wholeness, belonging, and freedom-of-being.
My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, systems-informed, culturally-sensitive and person-centered. This is a safe space for fully authentic, unmasked you. Carl Jung says “We don’t get wounded alone, and we don’t heal alone” and clinical research shows the number one factor that contributes to therapeutic success is the therapeutic relationship. Rooted in this philosophy, my therapeutic style is relationship-oriented and personalized to support each individuals’ culture, history, and therapeutic goals. While each therapy session is created to suit an individuals’ unique needs, I draw heavily from the following: depth psychology including shadow work and dream work, parts work, somatic psychotherapy, polyvagal and attachment theories, DBT, ACT, as well as existential and experiential psychotherapies.
We will spend the first session or two getting to know each other and creating goals for our time together. The sessions going forward will look different for each person depending on your therapeutic goals and personal life circumstances. We might spend one session dialoguing with your inner child, another session exploring specific interventions for a pattern you want to change, another in a somatic exploration of the body to support your nervous system, and yet another using role-play and symbolism to unpack a particularly memorable dream.
