Missy works with teens, adults, and family systems, and specializes in issues related to multicultural identity, LGBTQ, and adoptive or blended families. She works from an existential and attachment based model, is passionate about developing resilience, finding your OWN definition of substance use recovery, having reparative experiences and relationships, finding meaning in trauma, and working through anger. She is a believer that family/couples conflict is not solved by “fixing” one person, but rather by everyone being willing to take ownership of what they bring to the table. She loves to infuse humor throughout her work whenever possible, and it is a priority for her to emphasize the importance of holistic living, passion, and purpose; as without these things life can become significantly more challenging.
Life continuously brings about many different challenges and changes. While this is part of the beauty of living and relationships, we may often find ourselves at a point of feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, and repeating patterns that don’t serve us. Missy seeks to provide a safe neutral environment in which clients can explore how they want to grow, move forward, and live their best life!
In Missy’s spare time, she is athletic and enjoys outdoor activities, snowboarding, yoga, and anything related to the water. She also has roots as a musician.
She currently holds licenses as a Professional Counselor, Addictions Counselor, and Marriage and Family Therapist. Her qualifications also include being EMDR-Trained and SAFE Certified. SAFE certification means that she can provide an evaluation for those parents interested in pursuing foster care or adoption. She can also be hired as a Child and Family Investigator for those families going through a complicated divorce (or separation) process.
