Hi! It takes a lot to ask for help, and I am glad that you are here. Are you feeling stressed, anxious, or depressed? Do you feel like you have lost sight of your goals and who you are? Are you having trouble communicating? Is the pain from your past pervading your current relationships? Do you feel like you “should” be happy, but you just don’t have the energy anymore? You are not alone. In the confidential, judgment-free space of therapy, we can embark together on your authentic journey of self-discovery. All are welcome. Bring the whole of who you are—your culture, beliefs, and dreams—into the room with you. On this journey, you will rediscover—or discover for the first time—who you are and how you want to live your life.
A bit about me: My approach is person-centered, which means that I adapt to the individual I am counseling, incorporating multiple approaches and techniques so that we can reach your goals sooner. I utilize elements from CBT, IFS, DBT, Narrative Therapy, Art Therapy, and Play Therapy. I also am EMDR Trained. I came to mental health counseling after being an English professor and a small business owner. I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the College of William and Mary, and I have a Ph.D. in English from the University of Southern California. I love learning, connecting to other people, writing fiction, reading too many books, and hiking in the mountains. I believe in the healing power of nature for mind-body-spirit wellness and in the power of rewriting the stories we tell about ourselves and who we will become. It is an honor to get to know you and to be a part of your story.
