Hi, I'm Kristen. Counseling with me is a collaboration and an exploration of a client's life challenges, the ways in which a client might be limiting themself, the barriers that perhaps society has created, and creative ways to do things differently all while emotionally processing and occasionally having a good laugh.
I work with adults who are experiencing codependency or a lot of people-pleasing, anxiety, life transitions, grief and loss, depression, relationship conflicts, and existential dread/anxiety. My approach is tailored to each client and client-centered (trusting that the client is the expert of their life — you come in with this expertise; I come in with the education and skills).
A little about me:
I graduated from the University of Rochester in western NY in 2014. Since then I've lived and worked in Oregon and Colorado.
I believe that life is precious, wild, and incredibly painful. I believe that we are not meant to be alone or do life alone. And I believe that any remnant of stigma around getting mental health counseling is complete bullshit. Life is our journey to explore and evolve, and counseling is a fantastic tool in doing so.
I love dogs, knitting, and when people can and do say 'no' because then their yes's mean a lot more.
