Hello! My name is Maria – I am a social artist and therapist devoted to Relational Healing and Spiritual Transformation. My therapy approach is a creative process, integrating modern neuroscience with indigenous earth wisdom to support individuals and couples to slow down, reconnect, and remember true nature. I offer virtual therapy for Colorado residents, and I collaborate with my community to design and facilitate nourishing retreats. I am trained in Somatic Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, EMDR, Interpersonal Therapy, Perinatal and Parent-Infant Mental Health, Systems-Centered Therapy, ACT, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy, Nature-Based Therapy, Deathwork, Sexual Integrity, and Trauma-Informed Yoga. My work with others is grounded in an ever-deepening exploration of liberation psychology.
Our brains and bodies are designed for change. We are built for times that demand resilience and adaptation. We are made to grow and to create. To heal and transform. But we might not have a roadmap for how to get there. We might get stuck, confused, overwhelmed, and exhausted when navigating life’s constant demands and uncertainties. If this sounds familiar, your nervous system may need a reset. Maria can support you with a healing structure to help you feel more empowered and connected to your creative power.
Maria’s approach to therapy is holistic, trauma-informed, and collaborative. She works with individuals and couples to identify true desires, explore systems that support growth, and create positive change. She believes in the magic of the human spirit, the wisdom of the present moment, and the transformative power of rest and play.
Therapy with Maria will help you to resource your inner capacity for external change. Maria specializes in treating issues with sex and intimacy, relational trauma, insomnia, anxiety, panic attacks, grief, depression, pregnancy, codependence, death and dying.
Training Background
During her undergraduate studies at Appalachian State University, Maria organized and facilitated peer support and psychoeducation programs grounded in Expressive Art therapies, Trauma-Informed practices, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. She completed an Advanced Teacher Certification in Sri Vidya Tantra Hatha Yoga and Meditation (500 hrs), and she received training in the Neuroscience of Trauma, Intimate Partner Violence Crisis Support, Macro Applications of Social Work in Indigenous Communities of Southern India, and Positive Psychology.
While completing her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Maria was welcomed as an intern service provider for the perinatal mental health program at CU Anschutz Women’s Behavioral Health and Wellness. She received training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Parent-Infant Psychotherapy, Circle of Security Attachment Model for Caregivers and Children, and Mother-Infant Therapy Group. As a social artist and community organizer, Maria has also received training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Somatics of Sexual Integrity, Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Psychological First Aid, Reiki Energy Healing, Sound Attunement, Death Doula Support, Inclusivity and Sexuality Counseling, and Relational-Cultural Therapy.
Paired with her passion for integrative and preventative mental health, Maria has worked directly with thousands of individuals since 2011 through wisdom traditions and spiritually grounded interventions. She believes the process of healing, growth, and transformation is cyclical, and continual. There will be a natural end or destination for some, while for others the process will continue to deepen via root systems that extend throughout all aspects of life and being. Maria provides virtual therapy, liberation coaching, and healing art retreats. She spends her free time curating beautiful spaces and soaking up the solace of stillness. She loves witnessing the subtle shift of seasons and singing songs to carry her through moments both mundane and mysterious.
