Throughout my life, I've yearned for a sense of purpose and have felt like a wandering spirit attempting to make meaning of the world around me. I worked in higher education for a number of years providing holistic services to students who were first-generation, low-income, and/or had documented disabilities. In this role, I began to feel limited in my care for students, recognizing there was a significant need for mental health services. As I continued to observe cultural/social barriers to therapy for people of color, I decided to pursue a career in mental health and work to make a difference in my community.
Increased stress and loneliness can make it very difficult to connect, build healthy relationships, and feel good about yourself. As a therapist, I have sought to maintain my mission of keeping others company through their hardships. I believe that we, as human beings, sometimes just need another person to be with us in the thick of it, to witness the humanity of this experience we call, "life". I work to create a safe, accepting, and warm place for you or your child to clarify your goals and heal parts of yourself that have gone unseen. I work with clients to increase their authenticity, communication skills, self-awareness, and relational well-being.
In my free time, I enjoy cooking, listening to music, video games, movies, nature, and spending time with my family and friends.
