Reaching out to a therapist usually isn't the first thing people try. Often it comes after months of pushing through, telling yourself you're fine, and quietly sensing that life could feel a lot better than it does right now. If you've landed here, something in you already knows it's worth a conversation.

I'm Erik, a Licensed Professional Counselor with 24 years behind me. What I offer is steady, unhurried space—room to be honest about what's weighing on you and to start feeling like yourself again. People tend to describe my style as warm but straightforward: I'll listen closely and treat you with real care, and I'll also say the true thing when it needs saying. In my experience, change tends to start the moment we put words to what's been sitting unspoken for too long. You won't be rushed, judged, or handed a label here.

The work itself is practical and tailored. Some clients want concrete tools and a clear plan; others need space to sort through what's underneath before anything else makes sense; plenty want a mix of both. I meet you wherever that is. My training runs deep—EMDR for trauma, CBT for anxiety and depression, and ACT for the harder questions that don't come with clean answers—but I lead with the person in front of me, not the method.

When clients tell me what's stuck with them, it's usually this: I can stay present with the difficult stuff without looking away, I take the full weight of what they're facing seriously, and I manage to be both kind and honest at once. If you want someone who genuinely listens and moves at your pace, my hope is you'll notice that in our first conversation.

For Couples

Maybe you still love each other but keep landing in the same argument, or lately it feels more like sharing a household than sharing a life. I work with couples who want to break those loops, rebuild trust, and finally name the things that have gone unsaid. For partners ready to give the relationship real focus, I offer extended sessions and multi-day intensives—sometimes stepping back fully is more useful than trying to fix things on the fly.

How We'll Start

There's no need to arrive with the right words or a tidy summary of your life. I think of the early sessions as laying out pieces and slowly seeing how they connect. At first we'll stay close to the present—what brought you in, what feels hardest, and what you're hoping changes. As trust builds, we'll widen the lens and look at more of your history, since where you are now almost always makes more sense in the context of where you've been.

Little by little, the whole picture sharpens, and we shape a direction that actually fits you. I work mostly online, with in-person sessions available in Palisade, Colorado, for anyone wanting a retreat-style experience. Coming in unsure, exhausted, or carrying more than you can put into words is a completely human way to begin—and you won't be doing it alone.
