I grew up in an emotionally unstable household. My parents both came from families of addiction and mental illness, not really knowing what healthy relationships looked and felt like. The catalyst for change was being a parent myself at the age of 30 and wanting something different for my family and children. Change happens slowly. When my oldest daughter was 12, she suffered from an eating disorder and was hospitalized. Needing support, we were referred to an LMFT. Through couples and family work, as well as equine therapy, I learned how to love myself, my partner and my children unconditionally, authentically, and wholly. I want to help families find the courage to do the hard things to change old ways of being and support them in that process with compassion and trust.
My approach is to listen compassionately to current narratives while understanding how to help clients create new ones. I do this by helping to repair relational attachment injuries, destructive communication patterns, and negative thought patterns through a nurturing environment, experiential strategies, and psychoeducation.
In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis, running, hiking, biking, cooking, and reading.
