Maia is the founder and executive director of Blue Channel Therapy. She is a licensed clinical social worker who is certified in EMDR, an approved EMDRIA consultant. She is trained in the flash technique and has been working with children and youth for 18 years. Her career began as an educator where she taught art. She also taught outdoor education for one of Outward Bound adjudicated youth program. In the Peace Corps she trained preschool teachers in Lesotho.
These experiences sparked a passion for therapy and her pursuit of an MSW. After graduating from the University of Denver, Maia worked with children and families struggling with severe mental health needs and provided therapy in in-home and school based settings.
Maia believe that children heal more quickly and deeply when a caregiver is involved in therapy. That is why she started this practice so that parents and children could have one place where both could receive EMDR therapy and heal together.
Maia also trained in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Child Parent Psychotherapy and FirstPlay© and has had training in synergetic play therapy.
This therapist conducts sessions exclusively in English.
