Matthew is a dedicated and compassionate counselor with experience helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and achieve emotional well-being. He received his M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Franciscan University of Steubenville. Matthew interned within a community Mental Health center at Springvale Health Centers. This level of client care allowed for a diverse approach into many walks of life including children, adolescence, adults, and elderly, LGBTQIA+, homeless populations, couples, families, and more.

Matthew’s approach to the field has always been one which allows for encounters with people from many diverse backgrounds and lived experiences. It is through these encounters that a person grows in knowledge of self and others. The counseling experience is made possible through the collaborative efforts of the counselor and the individual. The therapeutic relationship allows for an in depth exploration of your personal world through the interpersonal relationship. In therapy, the client explores the wounds of their past through a non-judgmental partnership built on trust and safety.

Matthew specializes in working with anxiety, depression, trauma, and life’s many adjustments. Providing that space for client-centered care has benefited clients of all ages to navigate their journey and write a new chapter in their story. The population focus has been within the young adult and early adulthood populations. The ages of 18-25 is the most formative and important to building an individual's identity and future. The rapidly shifting landscape can be difficult to those starting out in the professional and personal spaces. The goal is to assist with this transition from dependent to independent working with strength based approaches. His therapeutic approach has roots in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). By reinforcing the client’s sense of the self, they will learn to challenge any thought patterns and belief systems that have formed since childhood. Matthew encourages the client to better communicate with their individual parts and seek healing from within.
