Hello! I am a trauma therapist and work with people who have experienced all types of trauma, however, I have a unique specialty area, which is working with scam victims. The emotional impact of a scam is far worse than many people realize -- until it happens to them. This is especially difficult when a person has been betrayed, such as in a romance scam.

I also work with partners of scam victims, families of scam victims, and offer training to mental health professionals on the unique needs of this population. Along with training, I've founded a non-profit organization that offers certification to mental health professionals, which allows victims to feel a little more secure in reaching out to that person for help. Scam victims frequently experience victim-blaming, so the assurance that a mental health professional understands this is extremely important.

Sometimes scam victims do not want to accept or believe that they are dealing with a scammer. Families struggle to help when this is happening, because it is as if nothing they say will change the person's mind. I have worked with many families in this situation, and understand very well how to approach this problem. There is an extensive section of my training dedicated to teaching other mental health professionals how to do this as well.
