My name is Rich Thomas. I am the founder of Sylvie Point Counseling, where I specialize in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy for trauma, anxiety, and mood disorders. EMDR is an effective, evidence-based approach that uses bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, to help clients reprocess and desensitize their traumas or distressing life experiences.
My secondary clinical focus is working with men to address their specific issues and reduce the stigma surrounding counseling. Men often pursue therapy at lower rates and frequently suffer in silence. As a male therapist, I understand the challenges men face when seeking help, and I am committed to breaking down these barriers and advocating for men to engage in counseling without shame or fear.
Lastly, I offer nature-based services through walk-and-talk therapy, which integrates the resources of nature and movement into the therapeutic process. Walk-and-talk treatment provides many benefits, including improved mental and physical health, reduced stress and anxiety, enhanced mood, and increased openness when discussing challenging topics. It can also promote mindfulness, boost creativity, and strengthen the client-therapist relationship.
By customizing my practice to meet the specific needs of each client, I can assist you in learning strategies to tackle your challenges and confidently plan for a better tomorrow. I enjoy supporting my clients as we work together to uncover the root causes of their issues. Together, we will confront your life’s challenges, helping you become a happier and more fulfilled.
