I am a licensed professional counselor with over twenty years of experience working with both adults and children. My career began as an outpatient therapist at a community mental health center, where I provided individual and group therapy for adults. My clinical experience encompasses the treatment of severe and persistent mental illness as well as anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, mood disorders, and trauma and stressor-related disorders. I also received training in Filial play therapy and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), allowing me to expand my practice to include children and their families.
After moving to Colorado, I served on a team that delivered in-home therapy services to adults and children at risk of out-of-home placement or hospitalization. For the last eleven years, I worked on the early childhood team, where I focused extensively on supporting children who had experienced trauma or were part of the foster care system, as well as those diagnosed with ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), anxiety disorders, mood disorders, or other behavioral concerns. In 2018, I earned certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and I currently use this approach with both adults and children.
I base my therapeutic approach on understanding each person's individuality and utilizing interventions that fit their distinct strengths and needs. I employ a collaborative model when working with children, believing that parental involvement is essential to the success of a child's therapeutic process.
