Life isn't always as easy as we would like it to be. Are you tired of feeling stuck? Now is the time to try something new! Therapy can be daunting, but thankfully I can tell you after almost a decade of experience, there is hope! Change can happen. If you choose to meet with me, we will work together as a team to identify your goals and how to achieve them.
My specialty areas include ADHD, anxiety, phobias, depression, medical diagnoses, weight management, stress management, work burn out, relationships, and finding life purpose.
My educational background is a bit unique: I have a BA in Secondary Education and a Master’s in Education in School Counseling. I worked in schools for several years and loved the teens, the school staff, & the parents (almost a wrap-around approach to care), but I had minimal facetime with students. I realized that I wanted to help people as a therapist. So, I went back to school (yes, again).
I graduated with my PhD in Clinical Psychology in 2016 and have worked in private practices, primary care centers, the Veteran's Administration, and a major county hospital. Getting to work with diverse people has shown me what the medical world is really like, not just for patients but for staff, too.
I enjoy working with healthcare professionals, teens, college students, adults, Veterans, and athletes. I welcome everyone to my practice regardless of race, religion, culture or sexual identity.
I am a therapist who believes in the power of authentic & affirming relationships. Drawing from a diverse personal background, I want clients to feel fully seen & understood. I am a first born US Citizen on my mom’s side, a mother, a wife, a sister, a career-driven woman, and a dog owner. My work focuses on honoring your identity, inherent resilience, & collaboratively building a path toward fulfillment.
This may be a bit jargony, but if you are wondering what evidenced based treatments I use in therapy, I tend to integrate a few, but mostly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My theoretical orientation is based on the Biopsychosocial model. This means that when I conceptualize the root of a problem, I am considering the interaction between biology, psychology, and socio-environmental factors. Problems are complex and often, there are multiple causes.
On a more personal note, I know that going to therapy can be scary. It takes a ton of courage to walk through that door and face things. But I will say that over the years, I’ve witnessed resilience and strength in clients. There is so much hope for change!
In my free time, I enjoy being with my family & dogs and you'll typically find me hiking or somewhere outdoors. I enjoy snow boarding, running, fly fishing (still learning), and being in the mountains.
