From a young age, Andorra Turner had early exposure to mental health care. Her mother was a speech pathologist who worked with children with disabilities, and after seeing the positive impact of her mother’s work, Andorra’s interest in the field of mental health grew. After graduating from UNC-Asheville with a degree in Psychology, Andorra served in the Peace Corps, teaching English to children in Indonesia for two years.
While in Indonesia, Andorra learned a great deal about people and connection. The culture was different, and even something as simple as saying hello could feel unfamiliar at first. But she enjoyed the challenge of finding common ground and relating to others in meaningful ways. The experience strengthened her belief that while everyone’s story is unique, we all share emotions such as joy, sadness, anxiety, stress, and grief.
After returning to the United States, Andorra moved to Colorado and began working as a caregiver in a group home for adults with developmental disabilities. Though she had studied psychology, it was in this setting that she began learning on a deeper, personal level—supporting people in their daily lives, seeing resilience up close, and recognizing the value of compassion, patience, and presence.
Over time, Andorra felt drawn more strongly to working one-on-one in a therapeutic relationship. She went on to complete her clinical training and now specializes in working with adults experiencing ADHD, anxiety, and depression. She focuses on helping clients understand themselves more fully, build effective coping strategies, and create sustainable, meaningful change in their lives.
At WellMinded Counseling, Andorra values being part of a supportive team and practicing in a community where relational, intentional therapy can make a real difference.
When she isn’t in session, you can find her hiking, crafting, or enjoying the company of her two golden doodles.
