My name is Irina González, and I use she/her/ella pronouns. I’m a Cuban/Russian child immigrant, sober queer Latina mom, and cis woman with ADHD living in a mixed-neurotype family. As a journalist-turned-therapist-in-training currently pursuing my Master’s of Social Work at the University of Denver, my work exists where mental health and social justice meet.
Outside of work, you’ll find me relaxing with a spicy romance audiobook while coloring, having fun by playing modern board games with good friends, or getting creative through my writing. In the evenings, I am often either snuggling with my two cats and dog or chasing my rambunctious kiddo all over the house.
I’m a trauma-informed, person-centered therapist intern who uses a strengths-based approach to help you unpack and unmask your lived experiences so that we can work together to align your goals with your reality. I strive to create a warm, affirming space where you can be who truly you are—whether you’re Latine, neurodivergent, LGBTQIA2S+, a parent, in recovery, or at the intersection of many marginalized communities.
Our unique identities impact our struggles and our successes, and I’ve found that sharing our most difficult moments often leads to the realization that we are not alone. The stories society tells us about what we’re supposed to be often don’t match our lived experiences and can bring us down, but I know that my clients have the strength to create the life journey they’ve always dreamed of—and I’m here to help them navigate the challenges they face along the way.
Through my training and supervision, we’ll tailor to your unique needs so that you can feel comfortable with how you show up in the world.
