Welcome, welcome! I’m Myers (she/her), and you’re leafing through dozens of profiles to hunt for your ideal therapist- a daunting process to be sure, & we love to see it! What makes me different? I’m a therapist in therapy- I believe in the process, and I recognize how much of an investment therapy is- emotionally and financially. Therapy with me feels like talking with someone who is deeply engaged and attuned, who holds you accountable, calls it like she sees it, and uses humor to help unspool some tough emotional truths. I know that change is possible, and with me in therapy, growth is the goal. Quick disclosure: I’m a new parent- I never thought I’d want to be a mother, but hey, if we’re lucky, life is long and change can happen. I share that because a core belief of mine- professionally and personally- is that growth and change are possible, and that humans have immense capacity of growth, change, and self forgiveness. Our stories may have not always included self compassion, but I believe therapy can help foster more self worth. Whether it’s better understand your past, a lack of understanding about what your future holds, or feeling stuck in the present moment, I use a variety of modalities- EMDR, CBT, ERP, DBT, and solution focused interventions. While all that jargon and years of training is well and good, research shows that the therapeutic alliance is the most important agent of change for the client. That said, I’d love to see if we’d be the right fit- feel free to reach out for a 15 minute complementary consultation! I’m paneled with Kaiser, United, and Aetna. I have immediate availability on Tuesdays at 2 PM and 3 PM!
