You deserve to feel safe, seen, and at home in your own body and life. And if you're not there yet, that's exactly what we'll work toward together.
I'm Mira Viorst, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor based in Sebastopol, California. I work with adults, teens, and young adults who are navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, overwhelm, and the particular exhaustion that comes from feeling like you've been carrying something too heavy, for too long, alone. I'm especially passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ folks, creatives, deep feelers, and people who have spent years trying to think their way through pain that lives somewhere much deeper than thoughts.
My approach is somatic and relational, which means we don't just talk about what's happening in your life, we pay attention to what's happening in your body, right here in the room. So much of what we struggle with has its roots in early experiences of feeling unsafe or unseen, and that kind of pain doesn't respond well to insight alone. Healing happens in relationship, and the real, live connection we build together becomes the practice ground for everything else - for how you relate to yourself, to the people you love, and to the world. Sessions may include mindfulness, movement, and creative expression, and I offer optional therapeutic touch for clients who are interested and able to meet in-person.
I hold a Master's in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling from Naropa University and have extensive post-graduate training through the Relational Somatic Healing Training Center, including work in therapeutic touch, attachment, and character development. I previously served as a lead clinician for former foster youth at TLC Child and Family Services, and I bring that depth of experience with complex trauma into my private practice. I also work with couples experiencing relational distress.
My hope for everyone I work with is simple, and also grand: that you leave feeling more at home in your own skin than when you arrived -not because you've fixed everything, but because you no longer have to face it alone.
