Hello! I’m Brooke Yingling, a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in trauma, including complex trauma and PTSD, and eating disorders in Colorado.

I grew up in a military family and had the opportunity to live across the country and around the world. Those experiences shaped my deep appreciation for people from many different backgrounds and cultures. I’ve always loved learning and consider myself a "lifelong student." Before becoming a therapist, I spent 11 years in education as a teacher, and later transitioned into the mental health field working with individuals experiencing eating disorders. These roles strengthened my passion for supporting people through meaningful change, and I’ve witnessed firsthand how transformative therapy can be.

My approach is warm, empathetic, and grounded in creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can show up exactly as they are. I draw from a range of evidence‑based practices and tailor them to each individual, honoring the fact that every person’s story, needs, and strengths are unique.

I find Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy to be especially powerful for healing deep wounds. EMDR helps the brain process experiences that were overwhelming or traumatic at the time they occurred and continue to shape how we think, feel, and react. EMDR allows clients to reprocess these memories in a way that reduces emotional intensity, shifts long‑held beliefs, and creates space for relief, clarity, and self‑compassion. I’ve seen clients move from feeling triggered and overwhelmed to feeling grounded, empowered, and more connected to themselves.

In addition to EMDR, I incorporate “parts‑work” and am Internal Family Systems (IFS)‑informed, helping clients understand and care for the different parts of themselves with compassion. I also draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution‑Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to support emotional regulation, insight, and practical skill‑building. These approaches allow me to meet clients where they are and support them in moving toward meaningful, lasting change.

Together, my client and I collaborate and set clear goals to guide our work, and I often offer between‑session practices ("homework") to help clients continue growing outside the therapy room. I incorporate humor when appropriate, and I’m direct in a supportive way, as I gently challenge clients to grow into the fullest version of themselves.
