Hello, I'm Jeannette, a bilingual English-Spanish psychotherapist who believes that mental health is the cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle, paving the way for personal and spiritual growth. As a Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) woman, my own life experiences have deeply motivated me to embark on this journey as a psychotherapist. I have a strong passion for working with culturally diverse communities, especially those that may face increased stigma around mental health issues. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Colorado State University in 2015, and I have been practicing in the psychotherapy field for over three years. Before becoming a psychotherapist, my social work practice was centered on the behavioral health care system, giving me a solid foundation in understanding and addressing complex mental health needs. Trauma exposure at different developmental stages and varying levels of intensity is a common reality in our communities. I employ a trauma-informed approach, working collaboratively with my clients to identify potential barriers to the healing process. Together, we explore defense mechanisms and coping strategies that foster resilience and promote overall well-being. I specialize in a wide range of areas including anxiety, children's mental and behavioral health, LGBTQIA+ support, life transitions, medical issues and physical health, multicultural and diversity issues, perinatal support (pregnancy, prenatal, postpartum), spirituality, stress, suicidal ideation and self-harming behaviors, trauma, family relationships, and depression.
My approach to therapy:
My approach to therapy is compassionate and client-centered, ensuring that each individual feels heard, understood, and supported. I strive to create a safe and inclusive space where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings without judgment. Whether you're navigating a challenging life transition, dealing with the complexities of trauma, or seeking support for your mental health, I'm here to help you on your journey towards healing and growth. If you feel that we might be a good fit, I invite you to reach out. Let's work together to build a healthier, more fulfilling life.
What you can expect from me:
From our fist session, as a client you can expect we review policies, confidentiality guidelines and my approach to therapy. Also, we will explore the main reasons that brought you to therapy. We will do an initial assessment about your personal, family, work and medical history as well as what you hope to achieve through therapy. We also see if you feel comfortable enough in our interactions as this is an important indicator for rapport building and success in therapy.
