Hello amazing and messy human! I too am both of these. If you want to both laugh and feel harder feelings like anger and sadness or at least learn how to allow these in order to achieve deeper healing that lasts, I might be the therapist for you. I've had the privilege of working in mental health settings since 2008 and I've been self-employed with my own private practice in 2018. I've worked with people with $5 to their name and people with millions and I've learned we all have pain and resiliency. The greatest thing I have to offer my clients that consistently leads to meaningful change is teaching them how to slow down using EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). This modality offers practical skills to pair with traditional talk therapy.
My clients are often anxiety-ridden high achievers who never knew they had ADHD and struggle to achieve a sense of calm or balance in life. I work well with many types of people, but most of my clients are 30-65, neurodivergent (have ADHD, highly smart, struggle to slow down), LGBTQIA+, men with high EQ who have been made to feel lesser for it, or people somewhere in mid-life moving through a time of transition and want to address earlier pain points that they didn't necessarily see as trauma such as an emotionally unavailable parent.
In addition to EMDR, I am "parts work informed" and trained in AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Processing) which is a modality that focuses on increasing one's ability to fully feel our emotions and meet parts that come in to protect through shut-down, etc with curiosity and compassion. Outside of work, I'm a proud momma to two little humans, one fuzzy one, a coffee addict, enjoy yoga and dance, and my husband and I enjoy decompressing to books and TV in the evenings. If this sounds like a fit, I'd love to connect!
