Hello, I'm Samantha Day; most people call me Sammie. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and proud nerdy geek. My hope is that therapy with me feels like a place where you can show up exactly as you are with no judgment, no pressure, and no need to have it all figured out first. Therapy with me should feel like a safe place to be yourself.
I've spent most of my career alongside neurodivergent people: as a special education school social worker and supporting adults with autism and intellectual disabilities. I don't think ADHD, autism, or any kind of neurodivergence needs fixing or masking. I'm curious about how your brain actually works, what helps you thrive, and how to build systems that fit your real life. I can also help you speak up for what you need, at work, at home, or in your kid's IEP meeting.
My main approach is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Instead of arguing with hard thoughts and feelings, we make room for them while you build a life that matches your values. I bring in CBT when structure helps, and my work is always trauma-informed and trauma-skilled. Mostly, I tailor. You're a person, not a protocol. Expect a conversation, not a lecture.
I work with adults and older adults around ADHD, autism, neurodivergence, late diagnosis, executive functioning, anxiety, trauma, women's issues, postpartum, identity, and life transitions. I'm LGBTQIA+ affirming and BIPOC affirming, which means I take your whole story seriously, including the parts the world has asked you to shrink.
Maybe you've always felt like everyone else got a manual you never received. Maybe you just got an ADHD or autism diagnosis at 30, 50, or 70, and you're rethinking your whole story. Maybe it's the executive functioning stuff: the unopened mail, the forgotten appointments, the to-do list that never shrinks, and the shame that piles on top. Or maybe it's postpartum depression, anxiety, or being tired in a way sleep doesn't fix. Whatever brought you here, you don't have to carry it alone.
Fair warning: I'm a little silly. Real grief and real laughter can share the same hour, and humor tends to show up right where the honesty does. I'll come as I am, and I hope you will too. I'm accepting new telehealth clients, so reach out for a free 15-minute consultation.
