"...maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be."
— from Man of La Mancha

I fell in love with that line the first time I saw Man of La Mancha in high school. To me, it's a reminder that hope isn't naïve. Believing your life can become more authentic, meaningful, and connected — even when things feel heavy — is often exactly where healing begins.

Hi, I'm Samantha (most people call me Sammie), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes therapy should be a place where you can show up exactly as you are: no judgment, no pressure, no expectation that you have it all figured out before you walk in the door. Whether you're overwhelmed, moving through a big life transition, questioning your identity, struggling in your relationships, or just wanting to understand yourself more deeply, my goal is for you to feel genuinely heard, respected, and accepted.

Much of my career has been spent alongside neurodivergent people. I've worked as a special education school social worker and supported adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and those years shaped how I practice. I don't see neurodivergence as something to be fixed or masked into submission. I'm interested in how your brain actually works, what environments let you thrive, and how to advocate for what you need — whether that's in an IEP meeting, at work, or with the people who love you.

My primary approach is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which focuses less on arguing with difficult thoughts and feelings and more on making room for them while you build a life that reflects your values. I also draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) when structure and skill-building are useful. Mostly, I tailor. You're not a protocol, and I'd rather adjust my approach to fit you than ask you to fit a model.

I work with older teens and adults navigating anxiety and stress, neurodivergence and late-in-life diagnosis, women's issues, fertility and pregnancy, the postpartum season, identity, and life transitions. I'm LGBTQIA+ affirming and BIPOC affirming — not as a line on a website, but as a commitment to taking your full context seriously, including the parts of your experience the world has asked you to minimize.

Fair warning: I'm a little silly. Therapy can hold real grief and real laughter in the same hour, and I've found that humor often shows up right where the honesty does. If any of this sounds like the kind of space you've been looking for, I'd love to hear from you. I'm currently accepting new telehealth clients.
