Hello! I’m Erica, a Clinical Social Worker who is passionate about helping children, adolescents, and families navigate challenges, build confidence, and develop skills that support lasting growth.
Before becoming a social worker, I spent several years as a special education teacher before transitioning into school social work and school-based mental health. Through these roles, I gained extensive experience supporting children with ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, developmental and intellectual disabilities, learning differences, emotional and behavioral needs, and other forms of neurodivergence. This background has given me a strong understanding of the unique ways children learn, communicate, regulate emotions, and experience the world, and it continues to shape the way I approach therapy today.
I especially enjoy working with children experiencing ADHD, anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, behavioral concerns, low self-esteem, social and friendship challenges, school-related stress, and significant life transitions. I also have experience supporting children who have experienced trauma, grief and loss, family changes such as divorce or separation, and other stressful or disruptive life experiences.
I recognize that children’s emotions and behaviors are often connected to what they have experienced and can be an important form of communication. My goal is to understand what may be happening underneath a child’s behavior while helping them process difficult experiences, develop healthy coping skills, strengthen emotional regulation, and feel more confident navigating challenges in their lives.
My approach is compassionate, strengths-based, creative, and collaborative. I believe children make the most meaningful progress when they feel safe, understood, and accepted for who they are. I enjoy incorporating art, hands-on activities, and other creative approaches into therapy, giving children different ways to express themselves, explore their emotions, process experiences, and build new skills.
I also believe families are an important part of the therapeutic process. My experience in both education and mental health has shown me how interconnected a child’s emotional well-being, relationships, home environment, and school experience can be. I value partnering with parents and caregivers to better understand the whole child and help families support the skills their child is building in therapy.
Reaching out for support is an important first step. My goal is to create a space where both children and their families feel supported, understood, and hopeful about the changes ahead, and I would be honored to walk alongside your family in that process.
