Making art was the first way I found to make sense of the world. That eventually led me to a Master’s in Art Therapy and Counseling from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and then to some of the most humbling clinical settings imaginable: Cook County Jail, Larimer County Jail, residential treatment for severe PTSD and addiction, homeless outreach with veterans, and school-based therapy with kids living in the middle of urban violence. I’ve held space for people in crisis, people who had been written off, and people who didn’t believe anything could change. That work shaped how I practice in ways no textbook could.
These days I work in private practice in Lakewood, CO, specializing in trauma, anxiety, and late ADHD diagnoses. My approach is grounded in attachment theory and informed by EMDR, IFS, and art therapy. The short version: how we learned to survive early in life shows up everywhere in how we function today, and that’s exactly where we start.
I’m not a blank wall. Sessions are direct, sometimes funny, always honest. I bring curiosity and genuine warmth into the room and I’ll tell you what I actually think rather than reflecting your question back at you.
I work especially well with people who can explain their patterns perfectly and still can’t seem to stop them. That’s not a character flaw. It’s a nervous system that hasn’t finished processing something yet, and that’s very workable.
In person in Lakewood, CO and telehealth in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Florida. EMDR certified, IFS Level 1 trained, LPC-CO, LCPC-IL, LPC-WI, ATR.
